The walk
A steep climb in the Aiguilles Rouges reserve, fitted with ladders and handrails, leads towards the Tête aux Vents. From there a royal balcony facing the Aiguille Verte, the Drus and the Mer de Glace leads down to La Flégère.
The detour to Lac Blanc (2,352 m) is almost a must: it is the most photographed reflection of the range on the tour. The Lac Blanc hut is full months ahead.

Good to know
- The ladders are safe but impressive: if heights bother you, approach via Argentière and the La Flégère lift instead.
- Nature reserve: bivouac only in designated areas, dogs not allowed.
