The walk
From Trient the route climbs through the Tseppes pastures to Col de Balme, on the France–Switzerland border: the whole Mont Blanc range lines up at once, from the Aiguille Verte to Mont Blanc itself. The main line then follows the Posettes ridge before dropping to Tré-le-Champ.
Three variants are possible: the Variante des Grands (an exposed, quiet balcony), the direct descent through Le Tour (easier), or the low variant through Vallorcine, useful in bad weather.
