The walk

The main route goes through Plan de l’Au then the Bovine pasture, a long balcony looking down onto Martigny and the Rhône valley. It reaches Col de la Forclaz and then drops to Trient and its pink church.

The famous alternative: the Fenêtre d’Arpette (2,665 m), via the Arpette valley and a steep boulder field, with the Trient glacier as a reward. Spectacular, but only on dry, snow-free days and for hikers at ease on boulders.
